Ryan Lochte apologizes on social media

RIO DE JANEIRO -- Ryan Lochte apologized on social media on Friday morning, saying he was sorry for not being more candid and accepted responsibility for his role in "taking the focus away from the many athletes fulfilling their dreams of participating in the Olympics."

Lochte and three U.S. swimmers said they were robbed at gunpoint early Sunday, but police said the story was fabricated. The American swimmer left the country as teammates Gunnar Bentz, Jack Conger and Jimmy Feigen were questioned by police.
